Jefferson's Bio

Jefferson the Mascot

Jefferson the Mascot is the Mascot of MyNextRace.com a website owned by the Sports Marketing Company, All Sports Marketing Inc.

Jefferson came to world wide fame when in October 2010 he ran the Scotibank Toronto Waterfront Marathon and smashed the Guinness World Record for running a marathon as a Mascot in a time of 4:16.

Since this entry on to the world stage Jefferson has made many guest apperances (and even participated) at many local races in the GTA as well as further afield like Miami and Tampa.

In fact in February 2011 Jefferson, not content with just one world record decided to try to break the Guiness World Record for running a half-marathon as a Mascot. Unlike the record in Toronto this was a much tighter affair and he just managed to break the record by less than 1 min in incredibly humid conditions.

So yes Jefferson is now a double World Record Holder.......not bad for a dog!

October 2011 Jefferson's Marathon World Record was claimed by Muddona the Pig the previous month and while the time was not quite right to try and reclaim it Jefferson did lower his Half Marathon World Record for Mascots at the 2011 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon which was ratified in person by the Guinness World Record Team who were there to view a number of world record attempts. Additionally, there was a new person under the costume for this attempt, David Hiddleston, Brand Manager, MyNextRace.

Jefferson the Dog

And in his own words....

"Hi, my name is Jefferson, the official company mascot. I was rescued from the Toronto Animal Shelter and except for the fact that I have to wear a uniform sometimes, I really enjoy working for MyNextRace.com. You can find me at just about every local race, hanging around the booth, but mostly I can be found in the food area.

I really enjoy bagels with peanut butter, hot dog wieners that drop on the ground, but not healthy items like fruit (yuck!). My owner makes me drink a lot of water, so watch your pant legs.

I am easily the fittest member of the staff, despite what my owner thinks. I can run, jump, fetch, swim and bark with the best around.

Not content with my two World Records I am now training for the Dock Dogs world record in distance jumping. I also enjoy tummy rubs, so feel free to share these with me. I also take a whole-food supplement to stay healthy, Juice Plus+ for dogs. WOOF!
